He grinned. "Ah, there is our target.”
Aru Akise, self-proclaimed detective, had just found his latest suspect. You read the report in your file. “Yukiteru Amano. Highly involved in the serial killer case, the school terrorist attack, and the Sacred Eye Cult incident. Allied with Yuno Gasai and Keigo Kurusu. Prone to crying and weakness.” You turned the page. “Yuno Gasai. Highly involved in the serial killer case, the school terrorist attack, and the Sacred Eye Cult incident. Allied with Yukiteru Amano. Highly dangerous. Prone to violence. In love with Yukiteru Amano.”
You looked up from your file to see that Amano had noticed you two. Aru just grinned, and when Amano looked away for a second, he grabbed your hand. “Come on, ______, we have some observing to do.” You ran after him, making sure not to drop any papers. By the time Amano looked back, you had gone.
“______ ______. Assistant detective. Allied with Aru Akise. Terrible grades due to skipping school often. In love with Aru Akise.”

Aru spent all day gathering more information on Amano. He wrote everything in his journal while you took important notes. This made you a very trusted assistant, and Aru’s best friend.
“Aru Akise. Allied with _____ _____. Ambition; Detective. Intelligent, deductive, predictive, impulsive, calm, cool, manipulative, handsome, perfect.”
After finishing your investigation, you were walking home when you noticed something. “Aru-kun… Look.”
He followed your gaze and grinned. “There’s our subject. Yukiteru Amano. He is with Yuno Gasai, Hinata Hino, Mao Nonosaka, and Ouji Kosaka. They all seem to be friends, except for Gasai-san. She seems to be trying to pry Yukiteru-kun away from everyone else. Prone to jealousy. Yukiteru is interacting with everyone in a friendly way. Allied with Hinata Hino, Mao Nonosaka, and Ouji Kosaka.”
You took notes rapidly in each person’s file and nodded. “We’re going after them?”
He chuckled. “You know me too well, _____-chan. Let’s go.” You followed them discreetly through their excursion. The group had gone to see the crime scene in a local park, where blood stains could still be seen on the wood chips. A few unlucky souls had met a serial killer. They showed interest shortly before resorting to childish play.
While everyone else had stopped for drinks, you noticed that Gasai was standing a few meters away from everyone else, and had been writing the word DIE several times. Your eyes widened as you wrote a word in her file and circled it.
    “Yandere.”
You and Aru continued following them. Hino eventually ran off, leaving everyone behind. “Should we pursue her?” you asked quietly.
Aru shook his head. “Yukiteru-kun is our target. We must focus on him. They’ll meet up with Hinata-san eventually, anyway.”
You frowned. Twice today, Aru had used Amano’s first name. Yet the two had never spoken! Why the familiar tone?
The others began walking to meet up with Hinata. You and Aru secretly followed. For some reason, Amano suddenly became panicked and took out his cell phone, to Gasai’s protest.
“What’s bad about using a cell phone?” Aru asked. He jotted the question down and continued the pursuit.
Amano read something in his phone and broke into a run, prompting the gang to follow. You and Aru ran after them in the trees. Amano looked to the side and gasped. He stopped abruptly. From where you stood, you could barely see, but…
    You gasped silently. “H-Hino…”
Aru nodded. “She seems to be dead.”
There was a disembodied arm on the ground, and a few feet away, Hinata’s corpse laid face down. Snarling beasts hid in the shadows around her.     Everyone except Gasai seemed panicked. You again took out her file. Casual towards death.
Aru grinned. “Time to make an appearance.” He began walking out of the shadows as you scrambled to follow. “I can help,” he called.
The group turned to see a white-haired boy with red eyes coming to greet them, followed by a shy girl clutching her files to her chest.
Nonosaka cried out. “Akise-kun, ______-san! When did you…?”
He merely grinned and kept approaching them, with you close behind. “Ever since you guys snuck in the park,” he said. Because of me. Who noticed them. Hooray.
Aru continued. “Though if you stay here, you’re all going to die.” He came to stand next to Amano. “Of course, we’re goners if it gets dark. So what to do?” He turned to look at Amano with that grin. “You’re trembling. How cute.” He reached out to touch Amano’s face. You hid your glare. What is with Aru? It’s not like him to tease someone like that unless he thought it would benefit him! What was he thinking? You wished you could read minds as easily as your beloved.
Amano fell to his knees at Aru’s touch. As expected of one who had been touched by him. Aru smiled down at him. “It’s all right. I’m Aru. Aru Akise. Your friend, see?”

    "Hey, is that Sherlock Holmes?”
You looked up from your book to see an albino boy grinning at you. You hesitated before answering. “... Yes. This is my favorite from the series. It was impossible for me to figure out the culprit.” You laughed. “Then again, I almost never can.”
His grin grew. “Indeed, that one took longer for me to solve. I almost couldn’t, but then I had a breakthrough.”
    “So you like mysteries?”
“I myself am a mystery. Thus I explore others. I am a detective. Or at least, I will be.”
“You’re off to a good start.” You smiled.
He grinned back. “Thank you. Hey, I have an idea. Would you like to help me solve a real mystery? The Case of the Baseball Club.”
You raised an eyebrow. “Baseball club?”
“Indeed! I was in the newspaper club when I came across the official roster for the baseball club. None of the players listed matched the ones who actually played! It’d be an interesting experiment to see if I’m more efficient when paired up. Partners?” He held out a hand to you.
You hesitated before shyly putting your hand in his. “Alright…”

You weren’t friends instantly. He proclaimed you friends after the case was solved. As it turned out, the original roster was actually a group of friends who used some of the school funding for the club to go out for ice cream. The team who played was the original captain’s twin brother and his friends who always wanted to play an official baseball team but would never have been given a chance due to their weak skills. Why didn't the coach or a teacher catch them? The coach was given a fake roster listing those names.
Anyway, Aru Akise doesn’t make friends that easily. He makes temporary allies. So why did he instantly warm up to Amano? Jealousy swarmed through you.
Aru smiled down at Amano. “Can you stand up?” He held out a hand, and Amano reluctantly took it. “Yukiteru-kun, I’ll bet you have a lot of     questions.” You could just hear Amano wondering how he knew his name.
    You. That’s how.
Aru continued and helped Amano stand. “But first we need to run.” You looked and saw a large swarm of dogs, all with metallic jaws strapped on their muzzles. They were approaching you, snarling loudly.
Aru acted quickly, as usual. “There’s an observation deck over there. We’ll be running there.” You followed his gaze and saw a large dome behind the trees. Aru took Amano’s arm and ran off. Everyone else followed in close pursuit as Aru tried to keep Gasai quiet. You glared as you ran.
Aru usually grabbed your hand when he ran off somewhere.
Amano let out a scream. What a psycho.
The group eventually got inside the deck and everyone doubled over to catch their breath except you and Aru. Aru turned to Amano. “Are you alright, Yukiteru-kun?” He didn’t reply. How rude!
Kosaka looked around at the dogs surrounding the building. “What’s gonna happen to us?”
“We’ll be safe in here!” Nonosaka protested.
Aru walked over to Amano. “Let me introduce myself again. I’m Akise Aru. My dream is to become a world famous detective.” Well, gee, way to give yourself away. Aru never introduced himself like that.
Amano stammered to reply. “U-U’m, I’m…”
“Yukiteru Amano-kun,” Aru interrupted. He turned to you. “This is my assistant and friend, _____ ____.”
You smiled shyly. “Hi.” At least he didn’t completely forget you.
Aru turned back to Amano. “Now, relax. I’ve been investigating you for the past few days.” He chuckled. “So, are you interested in me now?”
    NO.
“All right, I’ll continue. The serial killer. The school terrorist attack. The Sacred Eye Cult incident. We sniffed around a little, and it turns out you and Gasai-san were involved in all of them. My sixth sense tells me you are both hiding a big secret.” Amano’s face fell. As always, Aru was right.
“No, no, you got it wrong,” Aru continued. “I’m not saying you’re doing anything bad. I mean, look…” He pointed to the window, and your eyes narrowed. The dogs were trying to get in. At the mere sight of them, Amano fell on his ass! You wrote and circled a word on his file. “PATHETIC.”
Aru once again approached Amano. “It looks to me like you’re the prey.” He knelt and gave Amano his hat. “So I was worried you might be involved in yet another incident.”
Worried that there would be another incident, or worried about Amano as an individual?
Amano thanked him and put his hat back on. Aru went on. “We’re friends in the same class.” Amano sent him a smile.
    Stay away from Aru.
Gasai began trying to turn Amano against the others, saying that Aru was least trustworthy. You wished you could put idiot in her file, but it wouldn’t be real information. Gasai was, in truth, very clever. Amano merely scolded her. Kosaka shouted out. “Hey, the dogs are getting in!” Nonosaka screamed in terror, then Kosaka noticed something else. “You gotta be kidding!”
You turned and gasped. A huge crowd of dogs had surrounded the building! “What are we supposed to do?!” Kosaka yelled.
Aru frowned. “This is bad. If they all come at once…”
Nonosaka interrupted. “And we don’t know which places to block! What if they open a window that we’re not holding shut?”
Amano took out his cell phone again. Gasai smiled at him. “Yukkii. We’ll let them distract the dogs while we run.” Everyone stared at her, appalled at her suggestion. She’d really leave them all to die?! “I don’t trust these guys,” she stated.
    “No, wait!” Amano shouted.
Kosaka yelled out and blocked a window. “God damn it! Yukiteru, you son of a bitch!” You wrote a note in Kosaka’s file. Prone to rudeness.
Everyone began blocking windows as Amano stared at his prone, crying again. He closed his eyes. “Kosaka! Hold back the window on your second right!” Kosaka only expressed his confusion.
Gasai frowned. “Yukkii!” she scolded. Aru’s question popped into your mind. What’s so bad about using a cell phone?
Kosaka glared. “Screw you! I’m not following your orders!” You ran and blocked the window that Amano specified. You felt the window almost burst open as a dog lunged at it. They would have gotten in had you not blocked it.
Aru grinned. “Excellent as usual, _____-chan!” You smiled at the praise.
Kosaka stared at Amano with confusion. “Are you serious?”
Amano nearly pointed. “Somebody hold the third window left of the entrance!”
“You got it!” Aru called. He ran and pressed his weight against a window just as a dog lunged.
“Mao-chan, get the one on your left!” Nonosaka ran to the window and blocked a dog at Amano’s command.
Everyone began running around (even Kosaka), following Amano’s orders and blocking windows. One dog would have gotten in, had Kosaka not pushed it away with his foot. You had to stop yourself from laughing so you could concentrate. At nightfall, the dogs finally retreated. Kosaka let out a loud cheer and threw his arm around Amano’s shoulder. “Holy crap, Yukiteru! You’re incredible! Shouldn’t you be on TV or something? Hell, I’ll join you!” Amano nervously thanked him. Kosaka looked at Amano’s phone. “Oh yeah, you were looking at your cell phone.”
“Yeah,” Amano said, “It told me which window they were going to break through, just like a diary.”
You glanced at Gasai and found her glaring darkly. Your eyes widened. Past creepy.
    “Diary?” Kosaka questioned.
Aru grinned. “A cell phone can have a lot of functions, but this is the first time I’ve heard of one that can predict the future.” Amano only smiled.
Nonosaka smiled and went up to him, only to pull his hands behind his back. Gasai’s phone began screeching static. She gasped and stared at Amano worriedly.
“You truly are amazing, Amano-kun,” Nonosaka stated. She then slide a knife under his chin. “I will take that cell phone,” she said, holding it up.         Amano merely protested. No struggling or anything? He can escape without getting a slit neck easily! Gasai cried Amano’s name and took a step forward.
    “Don’t move!” Nonosaka yelled.
“Now, that was unexpected,” a familiar voice said. The door to the observatory opened. “I never thought you’d expose your secret so easily. Give me a break, Amano.” Your eyes widened when the speaker’s face became clear.
    It was Hino.
“Why?” Amano asked. Nonosaka gave Hino his phone and she accepted it calmly. Gasai moved again.
“Don’t do it!” Hino warned. “I got a Breeder’s Diary!” Gasai’s eyes narrowed. What’s a Breeder Diary? you thought.
“Just to let you know,” Hino explained, “Amano wasn’t my target from the beginning. I was after only one thing… The Future Diary that you hold… Aru Akise!”
Gasai glared at Aru as Amano gasped. Your eyes widened. “A-Aru-kun… What do you have to do with this?”
He only grinned darkly as an answer, his red eyes shining.
Yeah. I know I said I was only gonna publish fanfiction on Quotev...
Buuuuuuuuut...
I'm not exactly supposed to be on Quotev right now. ^^" So I'll publish it here. Later, I'll put it on Quotev, too.
Upon browsing Aru x Reader, you find there's like... 3 stories. And you know that super epic one that makes you really blush and has perfect grammar? Aru doesn't have one. Soooooooooo, here it is! I'll be following the timeline of the show. There are some spoilers!
As you can see, we're starting in Episode 8. After all, that's when we first see Aru. The reader is his assistant detective. You keep his files on everyone, and he trusts you to tske notes on certain traits. That way, when deducing, he can later turn to you for reference. You two also happen to be best friends. You're kind of the only one who has romantic feelings. (Don't worry, I plan to get past that!)
Please put up with me for now. I'm using direct quotes from the show, so it'll be long... The length of each chapter will depend on how long this chapter seems. I hope to one chapter per episode. You'll just be standing by and observing for now... But I promise that you'll have a real part at some point! Like I said, please put up with me!
